Transportation Company - Texas South-Eastern - Railroad

Company History: The TSE was established in 1900 by the Southern Pine Lumber Company (later Temple Industries) to acquire a seven mile 3’ gauge line from another timber company for use as part of a larger standard gauge line in the area around Diboll and Lufkin, Texas. By 1908, they ran 28 miles of line. In 1915, they took over operation of 17 miles of logging line owned by their parent company. This was followed by 42 miles of trackage rights on Cotton Belt. By 1978, TSE was down to 18 miles of railroad, still hauling forest products for their owner Temple-Inland.

In the diesel era, TSE had a GE 70-tonner, a DS44-750, a VO-1000 and most recently, an SW1500. In 2013, Georgia Pacific purchased Temple-Inland’s Diboll facilities and the TSE. One year later, Georgia Pacific sold the railroad to RJ Corman, and it became RJC’s “Texas Line”.
