Company History: This operation launched in 1991 and runs 100 miles of former MKT and Rock Island routes from Wichita Falls, Texas northwest to Altus, Oklahoma. The "Wichita" in the name is a reference to the county in Texas and not Wichita, Kansas. Traffic includes chemicals, grain and other agricultural products. WTJR is part of the Rio Grande Pacific shortline group. The all-time roster includes one GP7, eight GP38-3’s and six GP7R’s (all of the GP7R’s have since been sold.)
Brief History: The U.S. is a country of 50 states covering a vast swath of North America, with Alaska in the northwest and Hawaii extending the nation’s presence into the Pacific Ocean. Major Atlantic Coast cities are New York, a global finance and culture center, and capital Washington, DC. Midwestern metropolis Chicago is known for influential architecture and on the west coast, Los Angeles' Hollywood is famed for filmmaking.
