Transportation Company - Blue Hill Street - Railroad

Company History: The BHSRwy was established in 1899 to build an electric streetcar line in the Milton, Massachusetts area, specifically from Mattapan Square to Canton and Stoughton. One branch ran from Canton Junction Station to the foot of Great Blue Hill. A second branch was built to Walcott Square in Readville but operation on this line was rare. Passenger business never lived up to expectations and it is likely the company never turned a profit. On two occasions, fires destroyed part of the car fleet but the final straw was the harsh blizzard in January, 1920. Once the snows melted, cars that had been trapped out on the line were towed back to the car house and the railway promptly abandoned.
Brief History:
The U.S. is a country of 50 states covering a vast swath of North America, with Alaska in the northwest and Hawaii extending the nation’s presence into the Pacific Ocean. Major Atlantic Coast cities are New York, a global finance and culture center, and capital Washington, DC. Midwestern metropolis Chicago is known for influential architecture and on the west coast, Los Angeles' Hollywood is famed for filmmaking.
