Company History: In 2005, Savage Industries purchased Alberta RailNet from the North American RailNet shortline group. The line ran north from Swan Landing to Grande Prairie. At that point the line split for Glavin on one leg and Hythe on the other, all in the province of Alberta, Canada. Total length was 345 miles. The lines had been originally built by CN’s Alberta Resources Railway and a predecessor of Northern Alberta Railways. The year after Savage bought the operation, they sold it to Canadian National.
